A parliamentary group has called for further gambling ad restrictions

A group of politicians have called for further restrictions on gambling advertising following the decision by members of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) to withdraw television and radio ads during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Gambling Related Harm All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) has written to BGC chairman Brigid Simmonds demanding that further constraints on gambling advertising are put in place both during the lockdown and after it is lifted.

In announcing its move last week, the BGC said it would act as a "further safeguard" to protect customers at risk of suffering harm.
