Aidan O’Brien to win all five British Classics

50-1 Betway
After the first weekend in May the odds about Aidan O’Brien completing a clean sweep of the British Classics could well be considerably shorter than Betway’s 50-1. Dewhurst winner Churchill is a worthy short-priced favourite for the 2,000 Guineas, while Fillies’ Mile winner Rhododendron also deserves her position at the head of the betting for the 1,000 Guineas. If wins are secured in the Newmarket races, it will be an exciting time for those involved in this bet given the Ballydoyle battalions of Galileo colts and fillies for the Oaks, Derby and St Leger.

Gigginstown House Stud to have most winners at the Cheltenham Festival
11-4 bet365
I’m not convinced Michael O’Leary’s huge team of horses should be the outsider in this three-way match with JP McManus and Susannah Ricci. Ricci will have the odd penalty kick, such as Douvan in the Champion Chase, but probably not as many as last year when four of her five winners were sent off at evens or shorter – and she’s likely to have fewer runners than the other two. Weight of numbers does make McManus favourite (he had 43 runners at last year’s festival compared to 26 for Gigginstown and 18 for Ricci), but a lot will be no-hopers and on sheer quality Gigginstown are likely to have the edge.

Alben Star to retain his Sprint crown on All-Weather Finals day
8-1 Coral
Having won the All-Weather Sprint twice already, it’s a fair guess that Alben Star will try to make it three next year and he is a tempting 8-1 with Coral to retain his trophy. He won by two and a quarter lengths in March at a point shorter than he is now and was put away in August (as per last year) presumably with a view to keeping him fresh for another winter assault.
