It is not just the odds about Winx winning her farewell race that are short.

Also nigh on certain is that the sporting phenomenon will be splashed all over the front pages of Australia's newspapers on Saturday morning and then again on Sunday. She will dominate page after page, with souvenir pullouts and commemorative posters guaranteed.

As the countdown gathers pace she will feature in television news programmes through the course of next week and then be the lead item throughout the raceday itself, when mainstream host broadcaster Channel 7 is set to devote five and a half hours of live coverage to her swansong performance.
