Steeplechasing was my first love and I always absolutely loved those big old-fashioned chasing types that Captain Forster used to train. There was Martha's Son, who was another favourite of mine, and Coonawara but there was something about Dublin Flyer that I loved above all else. It had a lot to do with with his bravery and his brilliant jumping, and the way he used to stick his neck out.
The Mackeson where he beat Egypt Mill Prince is one of my favourite races of all time. He looked beat that day but the way he rallied and stuck his neck out up the hill summed up his bravery.
