By any standard, the first week of May was a triumph for Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners.

It began with a Naas double, featuring a comfortable Group 2 win for the superb Minding, and gathered pace with victories for Seventh Heaven in the Jockey Club Stakes and for Churchill in Saturday's 2,000 Guineas.

Then, on a terrific Sunday, Winter completed the Guineas double at Newmarket, beating stablemate Rhododendron, ably supported by Somehow in the Dahlia Stakes and a clean sweep in Leopardstown's Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial.
