O’Brien making headlines again – but it's not Aidan or Joseph!

There's nothing unusual about an O'Brien being near the top of the training table in May, but Ballingarry-based Richard O'Brien, no relation to the powerhouses of Aidan and Joseph, needs to be applauded for what he has done in such a short space of time.

O'Brien is hovering around the top ten trainers in Ireland after sending out nine winners this year from his ever-expanding operation in County Limerick, a huge achievement from a self-made man in just his second full season since taking out a licence in 2016.

The early indications are that O’Brien is the real deal after managing a number of successes from horses with a moderate level of ability.
