This saw the rematch of Pied Piper and Knight Salute, two highly rated juveniles from last season with a score to settle with each other after Gordon Elliott's runner was demoted from their dead-heat following the Grade 1 at Aintree in April.

Both will probably be campaigned with the Champion Hurdle in mind but on different sides of the Irish Sea, so head-to-heads before March might not happen very often.
