Neon Wolf reminded me of Denman. He was the best who passed through my hands

Rock On Ruby

He's the reason I'm doing what I'm doing. It was a great day back in 2012 when he won the Champion Hurdle – he'd given us a taste of what it was like when finishing second in the Neptune the year before and to be then training the Champion Hurdle winner in my first season with a licence was amazing. He was a fantastic horse and he put us on the map. It's fitting he bowed out with a win in the Coral Hurdle. He's still here at the yard – I think I'll get moved out before he does! As far as we see it he's still in training, he still gallops with the string and goes through the daily routine.

He's a fairytale story. I bought him as a 123-rated maiden, he's now won ten races for us, three at the highest level. He gave us our first Cheltenham Festival winner when he won the Albert Bartlett but arguably better than that was when he won at Punchestown after an epic tussle with Nichols Canyon. In the Stayers' Hurdle it was probably the only 48 hours all year he wasn't at his very best, so when he bounced back it was as good a day's racing as I've ever had. Like Rock On Ruby, he can be a bit of a handful, but they're both good characters. He could start off in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury or the race he won at Aintree last season.
