Anyone who feared Paul Carberry might lapse into an addled melancholy of existential consternation can relax.

He is doing fine. Indeed, he is doing far better than that.

When someone’s identity is so utterly defined by their profession as Carberry’s was for nearly 30 years, it is only natural to wonder how they will cope without it, especially when the decision to sever the cord has been enforced.
