Down Royal's Champion Chase meeting signals the return of the elite National Hunt season, and there was added interest at this year’s fixture with some exceptional talent on show, principally from Gordon Elliott's yard.

Looking at the meeting from a point-to-point perspective provided particularly pleasant viewing, with Farouk D’Alene, Ballyadam, Battleoverdoyen, Sir Gerhard and of course Envoi Allen all winning impressively.

Chris’s Dream (Henry de Bromhead) narrowly missed out in the feature contest, while Samcro and Queens Brook were among the other talented placed runners.
