Gina Andrews sails past Curling record with Edgcote double
Carl Evans with his weekly update on all the action between the flags
Gina Andrews marches on after riding four winners last weekend and taking Polly Curling’s record of victories by a woman in a point-to-point season.
Andrews equalled Curling’s score of 40 – recorded in 1995 – when riding An Scairp to victory at Edgcote, and set a new high in the following contest on King Of The Clothe. But it is possible she may have another winner to add to her tally as earlier on the card she finished second on Samarnni in the Timico Mixed Open and the stewards subsequently questioned the weight carried by winner Tricky Silence. The matter is now under BHA consideration.
It will be a pity if Tricky Silence loses the race because he is a promising horse and one of just three pointers in owner-trainer Jamie Goss’s Oxfordshire yard. In a throwback, he is primarily a hunter and team chaser, whose point-to-point agenda fits in around those roles.
