Political intrigue, crystal meth and the dear old Queen
Sam Spinner's trainer provides an insight into his viewing habits
My wife Andrea and I don't watch much TV, mostly just the news and weather alongside the racing. When we are both home we like to watch an hour before bedtime and have worked our way through various box sets
House Of Cards
We both loved the original British series so this boxset was always going to appeal. It was brilliantly written, the acting was fantastic and we loved the political intrigue. I guess we might not enjoy it as much now given the allegations against Kevin Spacey and I don't think future shows will be the same without him, but you can't take away the brilliance of the show. Robin Wright is outstanding as the scheming president's wife.
Breaking Bad
At times this was horrific, truly shocking but completely compelling viewing, as what started out as an unlikely tale was crafted into something almost believable. Bryan Cranston was particularly good as his character of Walter White evolved through the series, while Aaron Paul as Jesse was terrific. The way their very different characters interacted made great viewing. Watching the catastrophic disintegration of White's family life as a result of his choices and actions as he spiralled into a criminal world was gripping.
