'I've never had a horse who loved racing as much as he did' - remembering Kachy
Maddy Playle talks to owner Dave Lowe about a star whose speed was his hallmark
Good Friday will be different for everyone this year. But, even before the coronavirus pandemic, it was set to be a very different experience for owner David Lowe.
His electrifying sprinter Kachy had made the all-weather circuit his own for the last two winters, including an unforgettable win in last year's Sprint Championship on All-Weather Finals Day.
What set Kachy apart from other racehorses was that he won races at the start as opposed to the end. Razors weren't as sharp as his reaction speed away from the stalls and bullets have been fired slower than the tempo of his opening strides. Yet every move was executed with bionic precision. Simply, he was a horse hard-wired to win around Lingfield's Polytrack.
