Many will be unaware of betting ring managers – until they need one.

They are a calm presence amid the constant ebb and flow of one of the liveliest spots on the racecourse, ensuring everything is above board and maintaining the peace between punters and bookmakers.

You may have seen one at the track but few know exactly what they do. They are listed as officials in racecards and are well known to all bookmakers, who view them as a first line of defence, yet racegoers will only need to call on their services when something goes wrong.
