It’s the Saudi Cup’s turn for 15 minutes in the limelight

Did you know that the once-famous phrase “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes” first appeared in an art exhibition brochure? That’s an old-fashioned device similar to a tablet, but printed on paper, with content accessible by a swiping motion.
Andy Warhol, the artist who half-coined the phrase (although that’s questionable, as there was no Insta in 1968) probably didn’t mean horse races – more something like Britain’s Got Talent.
But the prophecy has come to pass in almost every avenue. Just ask the Pegasus World Cup. Only 15 minutes ago it was famous across the globe as the world’s richest race. But now it’s run for small change, having been jostled by the Everest and the recharged Dubai World Cup before all of them got clonked by the Saudi Cup, and everyone treats it like a fusty high-street charity shop.
