Nashwan’s King George (1989)

Everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot and I remember where I was when Nashwan beat Cacoethes at Ascot. I was 13 years old, I'd gone racing with my Dad and I was right at the top of the old stand with a mate of mine. It's a lasting memory of a fantastic race, with Nashwan, long odds-on and one of the first great horses I'd seen, having to scrap to get the better of the horse he'd beaten easily in the Derby.
