Dougie Costello has achieved what most jockeys could only dream of and is now appreciating the latest twist in a career that has seen him become one of only two jockeys this century to ride more than 300 winners in Britain both on the Flat and over jumps.
The Cheltenham Festival winner reinvented himself as a Flat jockey on the champion sprinter Quiet Reflection nearly a decade ago and for the last 18 months has been a major cog in the wheel at Charlie Appleby's yard.
