Lewis Porteous talks to Mishriff's joint-trainer ahead of the Saudi Cup

It is 7am on the dot when Thady Gosden arrives at King Abdulaziz racecourse's main track to watch Saudi Cup favourite Mishriff stretch his legs, the 26-year-old trainer choosing to cycle down from the nearby quarantine stables.

In faded jeans and baseball cap, he hops off his bike and leaves it sprawled on the floor. Barely half an hour later, having seen Mishriff canter calmly around a sweeping bend, he scoops up the bike and is off again.

When he returns to the same spot at 8.30am it is in the mother of all Chevrolet pick-up trucks, which he parks a little more carefully than his push bike.
