The raw egg challenge might just have offered an unlikely insight into Donnacha O'Brien the trainer.

Most of you have probably seen the clip by now. Donnacha, alongside his father Aidan – who is wearing a tracksuit of all things – both drink a raw egg out of a glass together. It is for a very worthy cause to raise much needed funds for one-year-old Dan Donoher who requires emergency life-saving treatment.

Aidan swallows the egg with only the slightest semblance of discomfort. "I knew Dad was going to show me up because he used to drink about five of them every morning," says Donnacha, for whom the whole process proves more troublesome. He coughs back up most of what entered his mouth.
