Darryll Holland and Kieren Fallon: 'We're going to give it a bloody good go'
Julian Muscat talks to racing's new training dream team
It is Tuesday morning at Harraton Court Stables, where a former jockey has just embarked on a new training venture on the outskirts of Newmarket. On arrival you expect to find a quiet yard where everyone is feeling their way, yet the place is throbbing with action.
A pair of well-dressed football agents are being shown around. Derek Thompson, so ubiquitous that he must have three identical twins, is scouting for a new horse on behalf of some friends. There's a small but distinguished cast of former jockeys ready for third lot. And darting between them is Darryll Holland, aka the Dazzler, who runs the show.
Everything is set fair. The horses are tacked up, pawing at the ground by the doors of their boxes. The riders have sunk the last dregs of coffee and Holland is pacing around, his easy countenance disguising the fact that his mind is racing. Only then does Kieren Fallon make his entrance.
