This juvenile hurdle was noted more as a starting point for a couple of young charges from the very powerful Joseph O’Brien yard, and was won impressively by Landofhopeandglory, but this Fran Flood-trained horse certainly caught the eye.

The son of Makfi had not shown a great deal in three outings in Flat maidens, nor indeed in two prior runs over hurdles although his last effort at Punchestown had shown a modicum of promise.

The Fairyhouse effort was much more promising. He took his time to pick up from mid-division and really stayed on well from between the final two flights to finish a creditable third with plenty behind him.
