Sports may have returned and betting shops are reopening, but that does not mean the gambling industry is facing much respite from the intense pressures it is facing.

At some point in the next few months, possibly in September, a full-scale review of the Gambling Act will be launched and it is likely that little will be left off the table when it arrives.

In recent years the reputation of the industry has collapsed, most publicly with the furore that led to the government's decision last year to reduce the maximum stakes on FOBTs to £2 from £100.
