You'd have got long odds about this year's champion two-year-old starting out at Wolverhampton in May but that's exactly what Pinatubo did. The rest, as they say, is history but his story surely has much more to offer.

A taking win in the Woodcote Stakes on Oaks day was followed by an impressive success in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, but it was at Glorious Goodwood where Pinatubo announced he could be the best of his generation.

A winning Racing Post Rating of 121 was earned by virtue of his five-length demolition job of subsequent Solario winner PosItive, with Chesham runner-up and future Group 3 winner Lope Y Fernandez a further five lengths back in third.
