Kerry Lee picks out the highlights from her magical millinery
The green fedora with the feather in it
It’s my absolute favourite because it was the one I wore not only the day Grey Gold won the Jim Joel (Bet365 Handicap Chase) at Newbury last November but also the day Mountainous won the Coral Welsh National in January. You might think it was weatherproof, given that at Chepstow that afternoon it didn’t stop raining, but it’s certainly not and the nice young milliner Camilla Rose, who made it, has had it back three times already to restore it to its former glory after I’ve ruined it on the racecourse. It will be out again on Tuesday when we try for another Welsh National and will no doubt be paired with the ‘bear coat’, the great big shearling one that has only ever given out on me once, that day at Chepstow, when I was soaked through to the skin but really didn’t care!
