'I'd love to train a winner of a Group race'

The Newmarket trainer, 50, is the subject of our weekly grilling

The brilliant Spare Parts is probably the horse you are most associated with. What's been the highlight of your career?
I've had only one winner on the Rowley Mile and that was in May with my daughter Grace riding Emily Goldfinch, so that was a good day. I've been training in Newmarket for 20 years and although I've had winners on the July course, this was special as it was her first ride on the Rowley Mile.

If you could work in any other sport professionally, which would it be and why?
I've been really fond of cricket this year. Previously I've never been a great fan but this year I've been hooked.

What do you think racing does best?
Showcasing great horses. We see brilliant horses coming back year after year and that resonates with the public.
