'I would love to become a commercial pilot - it's something I enjoy'
The Irish jockey takes the hotseat this week
What was the highlight of last season?
In a racing perspective, winning the Stayers' Hurdle at Aintree with Identity Thief and then at Leopardstown with Road To Respect were two massive highlights for me. On a personal level, I had a little girl just before Cheltenham.
Road To Respect was fourth in the Gold Cup last term; what's his plans for the season?
The Gold Cup will be his target again; he'll probably start out at Leopardstown in a few weeks. I had one sit on him and he's a much stronger horse this season. He's in great form and everything is coming together with him now. Last season soft ground played into the winner's hands, but the second horse [Might Bite] wanted better ground too. Our horse ran a respectable race and it'll be great to go back again.
How is Disko having been absent since November?
Disko was a promising horse but he missed most of last year. He is back out cantering now, so hopefully he can make his comeback soon. He looks absolutely super and his issues are all fine now. There's a lot more to look forward to. He's a different type of horse to Road To Respect but ticks all the boxes and if we can keep him sound he has every right to be there in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
