I should have voted regain with more relish as Europe take back Cup
Is life supposed to be easy or difficult? Or somewhere in between? I have been asking myself some searching questions this week in a sleep-deprived whirlpool of deep thinking.
What was the long-term plan when the architect of Earth – and whether you are Charles Darwin or the Archbishop of Canterbury, you have to accept something got the ball rolling – was sitting down with a nice cup of tea and looking to the future? Was the intention of Mr Big Banger or Mr Deity (or Miss Big Banger or Miss Deity) for lifeforms to be happy or to suffer? Or both? Or did they not really care either way?
Most people assume it is the former – that happiness is a birthright – but maybe that is not the case. Perhaps Earth's creator wanted to test, challenge and try us – possibly even distress, humiliate and torture us – and those who walk around with a permanent smile on their faces are a source of great anger to their maker. Who ruddy knows?
