Sitting across the table sipping tea is a successful 27-year-old jockey, who has a Cheltenham Festival winner on his CV and openly admits to earning a very comfortable living.
It should be your typical chat about reaching the next level. We should be wondering how many more winners he can add to his current career tally of 140. We should be discussing the horses he is most excited about for the remainder of the season. We should be looking forward to the future rather than reflecting on the past.
However, there was one important prefix omitted from the opening paragraph. It now reads: 'Sitting across the table sipping tea is a successful 27-year-old ex-jockey'. It is a very different interview now.
