I've been fortunate to have the chance to play with some of my sporting heroes as part of the Hurling For Cancer event that Jim Bolger and I have been fundraising with, and getting to play alongside Joe Deane is something I'll never forget.

The word 'reliable' comes to mind when I think of him. Every time he got on the ball, it was almost as if there was a 99 per cent chance it was going over the bar, and when he struck the ball you could nearly afford to look away.
