'He was a super jockey, one of the best' - the Heads reflect on Jarnet's genius

They say that two Heads are better than one, so we asked both Criquette Head-Maarek and Freddy Head to reflect on jockey Thierry Jarnet’s retirement, which he announced last week

Jarnet, who will be 50 this month, jointly holds the record for most Arc wins as a jockey with four successes, and Freddy Head – now a trainer of course – is one of those other joint-record holders.

He says: “Thierry was a great, great jockey. He had wonderful balance and great hands, and he was always in a good position. He was so cool in races but also light and strong. He was just a super jockey, one of the best I’ve seen. He was a tough rider.
