GVC Holdings chief executive Kenny Alexander did not rule out further acquisitions last week as the company reported a boost from its £1.1 billion purchase of bwin.party this year.

Announcing its interim results for the first half of 2016 GVC, which also owns the Sportingbet brand, reported an eight per cent increase in revenue to €432 million (approx £374m), while profit before tax rose by 135 per cent to €51.3m.

GVC has been one of the companies helping to drive the wave of consolidation in the sector, although Alexander said the potential for organic growth was greater than expected at the time of the bwin acquisition.
