New code of conduct for VIP schemes as firm restructures customer care teams

Ladbrokes Coral owner GVC Holdings is restructuring its customer care teams in response to the industry's new code of conduct for high value customers (HVCs) and has confirmed that a number of jobs are at risk as a result.

Operator schemes involving HVCs – also known as VIPs – have become an increasingly controversial aspect of the sector.

Under such schemes, high spending customers are rewarded with hospitality, bonuses and offers. However, the Gambling Commission has said that seven out of ten enforcement cases against online operators had involved VIPs or "very large spending" customers.
