One-eyed rider makes history with Goodwood winner
It took Guy Mitchell the best part of 30 years to convince the authorities to let him ride competitively but it was worth the fight as he crossed the line first in an amateur riders' contest at Goodwood in August.
A familiar face on the track, the 46-year-old racecourse doctor, who first applied for a licence as a 16-year-old but had his debut ride only last year, created history when becoming the first jockey with one eye to ride a winner in Britain.
