David Jennings chats to Sean Flanagan about a career which is on the rise
Sean Flanagan is flying right now. No, you misunderstood, he is actually flying.
We had arranged to meet up on Tuesday afternoon in Navan, but I've been stood up. A first solo flight from Newcastle Aerodrome in County Wicklow down to Skerries in north Dublin has taken priority. He was unable to be in two places at the same time, but only just.
"Sorry about that now but it was my first solo," he says, politely apologising for choosing flying over chatting. "I had half-an-hour with the main instruction and then he hopped out on the runway and said 'away you go'. I went down from Skerries, swung around and back. It was some buzz. I loved it.
