There's no such thing as a bad Royal Ascot, just degrees of excellence, but 2019 will go down as one of the most dramatic, fun-packed and outright wonderful of a lifetime.

The weather did its best to dampen the mood, but the likes of double Group 1 sprint winner Blue Point and dual Gold Cup hero Stradivarius soon saw off the dark clouds and transported us to racing's sunlit uplands. Ultimately, though, it was Frankie Dettori who returned to his home turf to steal the show – and what a show it was.
