Fakenham chief back on day job after Paralympic sojourn

Four weeks in Rio managing Canada's Paralympic equestrian team has given Fakenham chief executive and clerk of the course David Hunter a ready-made answer to those who reckon the trek to the north Norfolk track is too much of an effort.

Hunter, who stepped down 12 months ago after 13 years and four games as chef d'equipe to the British Paralympic squad, was signed up by the Canadians at the beginning of January.

"We had four horses and riders and 11 support staff," he says, "and assembling the team was quite demanding. One rider and horse was based in Florida, another in Vancouver, another in Ontario, and the fourth in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
