A year ago bookmakers enjoyed a successful Irish Grand National with outsiders General Principle, Isleofhopendreams and Forever Gold filling the first three places in Ireland's richest steeplechase.

That trio will be back to try again, but it won't be the same sort of race this year.

Unlike 12 months ago when it developed into a slog on heavy going, conditions here will be a stark contrast as we look set to have a ground description with the word 'good' in it as 30 runners scrap for a first prize of €270,000.
