It would be reasonable to describe Phillip York as a legend of longevity.

Thirty-seven years after riding in his first point-to-point, Guildford-based York needs one winner to reach yet another landmark in the sport, his 350th victory, and he could do so this bank holiday.

In typical and light-hearted vein, he says: "Yes, we're having another play this weekend. I have no end game, so while I've been aware this landmark was coming, I wasn't worried about it. I would have got there sooner but for Covid. All targets go past. It took me 20 rides to get round – that was special."
