At Royal Ascot last week Highland Reel showed just why his fan club is growing all the time with a gutsy display in the Prince of Wales's Stakes.

Now five, he is developing into the type of performer racing fans, particularly those with a fondness for jumping, warm to. His supporters might claim he still does not get the accolades he merits, but a patchy Classic campaign as a three-year-old may provide the doubters with ammo.

Of course, had he excelled at three he might have been retired to stud by now and unable to star on the track.
