2021 promises to be a momentous year for the gambling industry which is facing two huge issues in the shape of Covid-19 and the prospect of greater regulation.

For bricks and mortar operators such as high street bookmakers, the pandemic has led to betting shops being closed, not always temporarily, while the trend away from retail to online gambling has been accelerated.

The online industry faces not only the government's review of the 2005 Gambling Act but also the Gambling Commission's controversial consultation over affordability limits.
