The dual Grand National-winning rider analyses the Racing Post Gold Cup
Many of the same faces who lined up in last month's Paddy Power Gold Cup returned for Saturday's Racing Post Gold Cup, run roughly over the same distance but on the very different New course at Cheltenham, which is more of a galloping track with more fences to jump and a more galloping run for home.
It was the usual competitive start with Adam Wedge on Coole Cody bustling him along from the off to get him into his favoured position at the front. He was closely watched by most of the jockeys who are well aware of his running style and his fantastic record at Cheltenham.
He was matched early by Siruh Du Lac, with Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Midnight Shadow, Fusil Raffles and Lalor all holding prominent positions behind the leader.
