The team behind online bookmaker Black Type are looking to invest in increasing brand awareness of the firm, with horseracing sponsorship among the ideas on their radar.

The company, launched nearly two years ago by founders Dave Gowers and Craig Nicholson in conjunction with Mylo Sangster – the grandson of Robert Sangster – secured additional funding last year.

Black Type's head of operations Stephen Davison said: "It's been very busy since the start of the year as things change and evolve. We've got some new investment into the business which will give us the platform to kick on and add different things to the business which we didn't have before – more sponsorship and marketing.
