Black market warning as Entain hails 'revolutionary' player-protection programme

Entain's artificial intelligence-led safer gambling programme is revolutionising player protection, the operator claimed last week, as it unveiled the results of six months' worth of trials of the system.

As the clock ticks down until the government publishes its gambling review white paper, Entain's message came with a warning that regulation had reached a fork in the road and could drive customers down the path to the black market if draconian measures were imposed on the industry.

The gambling industry has been under fire from campaigners, politicians and the Gambling Commission for not reducing the number of people suffering gambling-related harm, although recent figures released by the regulator have been positive in that regard.
