1 Henry de Bromhead
Henry de Bromhead deserves recognition as the leading record-breaker of 2021 by virtue of his unique monopoly of the most important races over jumps.
He became the first trainer to win all three top jumps races in one season – Champion Hurdle (Honeysuckle), Cheltenham Gold Cup (Minella Indo) and Grand National (Minella Times) – and also the first to monopolise the three biggest Cheltenham Festival prizes – Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase (Put The Kettle On) and Gold Cup.
Yet the Knockeen trainer has never received the credit he deserves because his historic exploits are not deemed as newsworthy as those of Rachael Blackmore, who rode Honeysuckle and Minella Times for him.
