Grand National specialist Saint Are, who ran in the Aintree highlight five times and was retired after being brought down in the race last April, made a winning debut in the show ring at Brook Farm in Essex.

The 13-year-old appears to be enjoying life in his second career with Retraining of Racehorses duo Justine Armstrong-Small and Rebecca Court, who he joined in August from Tom George.

Speaking to Horse & Hound, Court said: “We have brought him back into work very slowly, gradually building up his schooling and he is coming along really well.
