Ultra-impressive Royal Ascot winner Sangarius will bypass an intended engagement in the Sky Bet York Stakes on Saturday, after not entirely pleasing connections in the build up to the Group 2 contest.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained three-year-old began his campaign with a fine third to subsequent St James's Palace Stakes runner-up King Of Comedy, before defeating Fox Chairman by two and quarter lengths in the Hampton Court Stakes at Ascot.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, said: "He's not running at the weekend, but there's nothing immediate to say anyway.

"He's just not 100 per cent and we'd need more time to assess his condition before we're able to make a plan."

Sangarius's absence has paved the way for stablemate Regal Reality to head the betting against a maximum of nine rivals.

Sky Bet York Stakes sponsor's prices: Regal Reality 6-4, Bangkok 4-1, Elarqam 9-2, Addeybb 6-1, Forest Ranger 9-1, Knight To Behold 12-1, Matterhorn 14-1, Desert Encounter 16-1, Spotify 25, Success Days 33-1.
