Favourite Ball D'Arc ready to roll in valuable Dan Moore Memorial
Ante-post favourite Ball D'Arc heads a field of 14 for the €100,000 Bar One Racing Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
Trainer Gordon Elliott also runs Turn Over Sivola in the valuable 17-furlong contest, while the sole British challenger comes in the shape of Neil Mulholland’s Baltimore Rock.
JP McManus saw his colours carried to victory in the race 12 months ago when Nearly Nama'd proved too strong for his rivals and the owner relies on course and distance winner Peoples Park and the Willie Mullins-trained Jarry D'Honneur in his quest for back-to-back victories.
The weights are headed by Days Hotel, who finished a distant runner-up behind Douvan in the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase at Cork last month.
No weather problems are expected at Fairyhouse and racecourse manager Peter Roe reports the track to be in top shape.
He said: "We had a light dusting of snow on Friday morning but we don't see any problems with Sunday's meeting. The ground is perfect and it is forecast to be 11C.
“Last year we had 71 horses declared here and this year we have 112, which is a significant increase. In the feature Dan Moore Memorial it’s great to see Noel Fehily and Neil Mulholland making the trip over for the race. We are looking forward to a great day of racing.”
