Father-and-son partnership dominate with 184-1 four-timer

Jamie Moore: landed a four-timer on his father Gary's horses
1 of 1

The father-son combination of trainer Gary Moore and jockey Jamie Moore continued their rich vein of form by landing a 184-1 four-timer.

The thriving partnership got off to the best possible start when Naturally High struck in the opening 2m handicap hurdle, and that was swiftly followed by Movethechains taking the 2m7½f handicap chase.

“I was told Movethechains would enjoy the ground today from his point-to-point days,” Gary Moore told Sky Sports Racing. “He ran on quick ground at Stratford the other day and didn’t enjoy it one bit; he was more in his comfort zone today.”

Zhiguli was fortunately handed the 2m7½f handicap chase when the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Coeur Serein crashed out at the final fence, unseating jockey Richie McLernon when well clear, leaving Jamie Moore to saunter to an 11-length victory.

“We’re probably a lucky winner, but I thought we could have been an unlucky loser as we hit two out hard just as I started to get rolling,” said Moore. “He’s a keen horse at home, I wanted to get him respecting the jumps and he gave them plenty of daylight.”

They rounded off the day with Sopran Thor bolting up by 19 lengths in the 2m4f handicap chase.

The leading rider has operated at a staggering 48 per cent strike-rate over the last fortnight, with ten winners from 21 rides.

On another successful afternoon, he added: “The ground is an unknown quantity with any horse but four of ours have handled it. It’s been a good day.”

Exciting debutant for Murphy

Another successful partnership was on show as trainer Olly Murphy gave the exciting Barony Legends a debut run over hurdles, and he romped home under Aidan Coleman by 27 lengths from Ozzie Man, with team Moore having to settle for second.
