Exeter's Wednesday card must pass morning inspection with rain forecast

There is heavy rain forecast for Exeter Tuesday into Wednesday

Exeter's meeting scheduled for Wednesday will have to pass an 8am inspection after officials warned the forecast rain could scupper the fixture.

In an update on Tuesday morning, the track reported a GoingStick reading of 5.1 on the hurdles track and 5.4 on the chase track, but warned that the forecast of between 5mm and 12mm of rain might put the fixture in jeopardy.

The report expanded that the track was "raceable today, but can't take much more." The rain is forecast to pass by 6am on Wednesday, so the outcome of the inspection should be conclusive.

There was better news for the day's other scheduled turf fixture at Catterick. The snow covering reported there in recent days has cleared, leaving ground described as soft, heavy in places. No inspection is planned.
