Everything you need for the final day of racing in 2017 including going news

The last day of racing before the fireworks and the new year
1 of 1

The final day of racing in 2017 and everyone can end the year happy with action in Ireland, over jumps in Britain and on the all-weather. Marvellous stuff.

At Punchestown we finally, and delightfully, get the chance to see Killultagh Vic back on the racecourse for the first time since his remarkable recovery to win a Grade 2 novice chase at Leopardstown nearly two years ago. He returns in the 2m4f hurdle (1.40).

Warwick passed an inspection on Saturday and hosts a seven-race card, while Uttoxeter is expecting a record crowd for its final fixture of the year. Lingfield’s meeting features a £22,000 handicap over 1m.

So whether 2017 has been a memorable or forgettable one for you, make sure you enjoy the last moments of it before we start all over again on Monday.

Final thought

There were some truly memorable performances on the course this year on the Flat and over jumps. There were at least two more horses to add to that list from Saturday in the shape of Poetic Rhythm and 30-length Listed winner Maria's Benefit. What a hugely exciting year 2018 could be, especially for those horses.
